My Story, And How It Can Help You
My name is Carlos Garcia Jurado Suarez.
I’m a tech-savvy career coach that has been a Software Engineer for 25 years. I have two master’s degrees—one in Computer Science, and one in Applied Math—that I got while working full time. I have touched nearly all facets of the business during my career. Ultimately, I transitioned into Machine Learning and management.
I’ve worked for big companies like Microsoft, Facebook, startups and even academia. This gives me insight about the tech industry that is, frankly, hard for other coaches to match.
But my greatest strength is that, along the way, I met some amazing people who took me under their wing and showed me one of the greatest skillsets in the world: growing yourself to grow your opportunities.
This involves developing your skills in a balanced way, on both the soft-skill and technical skill sides, as well as learning what intelligent risks to take to maximize your chances at your own definition of success. As a result, I went from junior level college graduate at Microsoft to Principal, and when I saw the right opportunity, I took a high-level engineer position at Facebook.
But what I’m most proud of is the fact that after Facebook, I took 3 months off to travel around the world with my family. Before I left for the trip, I had secured my next (higher) position at Microsoft. Yes, with the same skills I have learned, you too can have a career that aligns with your values.
