Here at code*pointers I talk about various aspects of a career in software engineering. In particular, I like covering both technical and non-technical topics since they both have a big impact on how we shape our careers as engineers.
I hope you find this useful. If you have any feedback or topics you’d like to see covered, don’t hesitate to leave a comment or reach out.
About me
My name is Carlos Garcia Jurado Suarez and I’m a Software/Machine Learning Engineer, and a Career Consultant in the tech industry.
I have over 20 years of experience as an engineer, applied scientist, and manager at Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft Research, Facebook, and most recently, Outreach. In the past, I’ve dabbled in a wide range of areas, like Kinect audio, networking, and distributed systems. Nowadays my expertise and passion are in Machine Learning for conversational systems. In addition to coding, I enjoy giving technical talks (in English or Spanish) and mentoring students and fellow engineers to advance their careers.
I grew up in Mexico City and did my undergrad in Physics at ITESM, in Monterrey, Mexico. I also hold masters’ degrees in Computer Science and in Applied Mathematics, both from the University of Washington.
In my spare time, I like cooking, salsa dancing, exercising, and writing for this blog.
